CELEBRATING LIFE, PEOPLE & FRIENDSHIPS
Ever have a day when you want to shut yourself away and not speak to anyone?? Yup I have them too! ……But, in all honesty they are rare I would very much consider myself to be a ‘people person’. I LOVE people (most of the time!) and I love people watching.
When I look back over my life, the best memories are the times I spent with special people and nurturing that one thing we all so easily take for granted ‘human relationships.’ Yes, people have made me laugh, made me cry, made me grateful, made me wiser, made me re-evaluate my life and even those who have hurt me have made me stronger.
I have met some incredible, interesting and inspiring people throughout my life and especially during my travels, however like many of us, people come and people go.
For the last 15 years I have worked as a Professional Celebrant, writing and delivering life stories to commemorate, celebrate and pay tribute to people. Probably around 90% of this work has been within the Funeral Profession, where I have had the privilege of paying the final tribute to someone’s life after they have died. I have also had the great joy of training over 1000 other celebrants this field and have the honour of being the Founder and Director of the acclaimed Fellowship of Professional Celebrants, which I am proud to say remains one of the greatest achievements of my life outside of my family.
I love my work, I am passionate about it, in fact those who know me well will tell you that for the last 15 years I have lived, breathed and slept Celebrancy (and yes before you ask I did say Celebrancy and not Celibacy!)
But now I am ready for a brand new challenge and within our travels I am going to be looking to write about some of the people we meet; people who are celebrating life whilst still living it, fellow travellers sharing their journeys with us, those marking life’s milestones & rites of passage with travel, locals sharing their Towns, Countries, cultures, rituals and heritages with us. To say I am excited would be an understatement!!!! It will encompass absolutely everything I love; MY FAMILY, TRAVEL, WRITING, PEOPLE, FRIENDSHIPS & CELEBRATING LIFE.
Some of these stories will be included here on the ‘People we meet’ pages of our travel blog, but we will also be introducing more faces via our newer Instagram page http://www.instagram.com/peoplethatwemeet (so please do come across and follow us there).
