The Law of Attraction

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life, it turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order and confusion into clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend…”

‘Gratitude’ is they key to everything – seems almost too simple doesn’t it? But have you ever gone out of your way to help someone or simply just to do something really nice for another person and don’t get so much as a “thank you” in return? You don’t feel very inspired to do anything nice for them in the future either do you? And yet appreciation for some small act of kindness goes a very long way.

I believe that the universe works in a very similar way, it responds to gratitude and continues to send abundance to those who practice it on a regular basis.

Some may consider this very similar to prayer “ask and ye shall receive” – but whether you are addressing your inner thoughts to God, the Universe or some other higher dimension, we know that the science behind quantum physics has proven that the power of our thoughts can create a paradigm shift which in turn can lead us to turn our thoughts into reality and to manifest pretty much anything we truly want: This is what many will refer to as ‘The Law of Attraction’

I admit that my life has been somewhat of a roller coaster and certainly not how I foresaw it unfolding when I was younger. There have however been some beautiful and incredible highs but also some sadder, harder and more challenging times. In the early part of 2016 I admittedly found myself at an all time low, a combination of many factors but it felt like I was trapped at the bottom of a very deep, dark well and no matter how hard I tried I just didn’t seem to be able to escape. I would take a few steps upwards, only to slide straight back down again. It is true that there is still SO much that is not known nor understood about mental health but it is certainly in those darker times that you truly, truly find out who your real friends are…not to mention family. (Just the other day my own daughter described me as a ‘psychopath’ to her boyfriend because I had suffered with depression!)

At this same period of my life however, I stumbled upon the documentary movie ‘The Secret’ by Rhonda Byrne. I watched it mesmerised and have watched it several times subsequently, each time picking up on something new. I realised then how much (both good and bad) that I had manifested in my life with my thought patterns and more importantly this was an intense realisation that I had the power within me to change and control my whole future with my own thoughts and visualisation. I like to think I have always expressed gratitude to show my appreciation to other people, but admittedly not to the universe until this particular moment.

There is of course the old age saying “your vibe attracts your tribe.” I believe that is true in many ways (I say ‘many’ because let’s face it we have all encountered a few arseholes and weirdos along the way too!! 🤣) The ones who stick with you through thick and thin though – they are your Tribe.

We are all living energy and the frequency of that energy we vibrate will attract like for like. I am sure you have all come across people that you just get ‘bad vibes’ about, in exactly the same way you meet people who you know instantly are on your wave length. When you are aware of these frequencies and how they can influence you both positively and negatively then you will know how to act and react when you encounter them.

I know people who only ever talk about “bills and debts, bills and debt” – so what does the universe hear and respond to?? Yes, more bills and debt.

The state of gratitude is one of the highest vibrating frequencies and one that the universe responds to incredibly quickly. There are many resources available out there now about manifesting and the Law of Attraction. For me it feels like my life up until two years ago was a series of challenges and tests, yet now the universe has said “OK, you passed all of the tests, now its time for your rewards….” I am not saying there haven’t still been the odd moments of hurt or disappointment, but instead of them throwing me backwards down that deep, dark well again, I simply open my mind and think “how am I going to learn and grow from this experience?” I have learnt that the people who come into your life and hurt you are often the same people who also bring profound personal growth to your life – so be grateful for these people too. Their negative actions will always be a reflection of who they are and not who you are, so stay true to yourself always. (And just sit back and let Karma deal with anyone who hurt you!)

Visualisation Boards

Many successful manifesters work with vision boards and again they are proven to often help us to achieve our dreams through positive visualisation.

For me, I feel that the Law of Attraction has worked because of two core factors:

1) Starting each and everyday by expressing gratitude for what I have in my life. For example; my family, my friends, my health, waking up in a bed in a safe place (too many people in the world don’t even have that), a successful business and the abundance which will continue coming my way.

2) Positive visualisation and gratitude in a future tense; placing your thoughts as if you already have exactly what you want and giving thanks for it. (I frequently write this by hand several times and in red ink…the universe loves hand-written notes!)

So for example “I am truly grateful that I am now travelling around the world with the financial freedom to do so”

“I am grateful that I am completely debt free and living in financial abundance”

“I am grateful that I am creating a beautiful, trusting and secure relationship with the man of my dreams”

Write down exactly what you want, as if you have it – write it 5 times over a period of a month. Then put it away somewhere safe and try not to obsess over it, just trust the universe to deliver. Remember that the universe keeps its own time and will deliver in such – sometimes its faster than we expect, but be patient if it takes a little longer.

I started actively visualising my bucket list exactly two years ago (then age 45), with the hope that I ‘may’ achieve such by the time I retired at 60. Here I am just 48 months later not only making just one tick off that bucket list, but almost all of them within the next year. I have to pinch myself that I have been so lucky and that the universe has literally delivered my wish list into my lap as if I had ordered it directly from Amazon! Gratitude is flowing in abundance right now.

I deliberately left one of two bucket list destinations off this trip so that I still have dreams and goals to come back to and continue working towards.

Now please don’t get me wrong, there are also a lot of misconceptions relating to The Law of Attraction – if it were simply as easy as saying “I’m grateful for winning the lottery jackpot on Saturday night” we’d all be doing it, right?

It requires complete focus and balance, the universe will help open the right doors for you but only you can decide whether you walk through them. It can also mean a lot of hard work, dedication and sacrifices. Remember this is about the universe matching energy with energy, frequency with frequency – meaning that your thoughts, feelings, actions and beliefs must ALL be in total harmony to allow whatever you want into your life.

I am a single mother who was virtually penniless 20 years ago, I am now just about to embark on a year long ‘Round The World’ adventure. I have given my all to both my family and my business, I have dreamed of this, I have worked solidly for this…and for this I am truly grateful.

To all those who supported me, encouraged me and believed in me – “THANK YOU”
