Lifestyle at Ferntree

Accommodation Review in Ferntree Gully, Victoria, Australia.

Our sole purpose of coming to the Melbourne area this trip was because Cameron wanted to see the Puffing Billy Railway.

Puffing Billy lies just under 50km to the east of Melbourne and is easily accessible by train so I debated for a while whether to stay in the city itself or to stay in the eastern suburbs. I am very glad I opted for the latter and as a result booked in at ‘Lifestyle at Ferntree’.

Situated in the eastern suburbs Ferntree Gully is right in the foothills of the spectacular Blue Dandenong Ranges. It a pleasant & easy 45 minute drive from Melbourne Airport.

We received the most friendly welcome when we arrived and instantly kicked off a great rapport with Rob, the front desk manager who also shared a great love of travel. Throughout our stay here though all of the staff have proved to be friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

Lifestyle provide large spacious apartments, which as well as a bedroom have a living area, dining area, fully stocked & equipped kitchen and a bathroom (with bathtub) which also houses the washing machine and dryer. Outside we have a small seating area with views out to the Dandenongs.

The kitchen was also supplied with a good selection of teas, coffee etc for arrival and even fresh milk in the fridge for the much needed first cuppa!

As soon as we walked in the door here we felt at home and I immediately found myself wishing we were staying for longer than just 5 nights.

It took just five minutes to drive to the Puffing Billy Railway so this truly is the perfect place to stay for those train enthusiasts like my son!

There are an array of shops and restaurants within just a couple of minutes walk and a large Woolworths supermarket just a 2 minute drive up the road.

We spent most of our time here exploring the Dandenongs & Yarra Valley but equally it is really easy to get back into the city centre either by car or by train (either take around 40 minutes).

Having stayed in Melbourne City 9 yrs ago however, I would definitely say the suburbs win hands down (as we have discovered on the outskirts of many cities around the world)

Our stay here for 2 people for 5 nights in February cost £417 and was booked through GS International Travel who provided me with the most competitive price.

We have had the most incredible stay here, we loved Lifestyle Apartments and we loved the surrounding area. Cameron has already requested that we come back here next year for at least 2 weeks!!
